New author page post!

P.C. Cast, What a great author. Sadly not my favorite, but a favorite of my sister's. Her House of Night Series has sparked an evolution around the world. Making her and her daughter a household name and an inspiration for authors everywhere. She is a blogger: http://www.pccast.blogspot.com/

Kristin, Cast daughter, actually made headlines herself. She models their clothing and other articles for their store and has recently made it known that she is working on her won stand alone novel.

  1. Marked 2007                                7. Burned 2010
  2. Betrayed 2007                              8. Awakened 2011
  3. Chosen 2008                                9. Destined 2011
  4. Untamed 2008                             10. Hidden  2012
  5. Hunted 2009                                11. Revealed 2013

Novellas from HON:

  1. Dragon's Oath 2011
  2. Lenobia's Vow 2012
  3. Neferet's Curse 2013
  4. Kalona's Fall 2014
-This series is one that has been in my life since it came out. This is probably one of the first books I had picked up since high school, not including Harry Potter. I was instantly intrigued. I have only read until #9, but they are on my TBR pile, as for the Novellas I have read all but #4.

Goddess Summoning series:

  1. Goddess of the Sea 2003
  2. Goddess of Spring 2004
  3. Goddess of Light 2005
  4. Goddess of the Rose 2006
  5. Goddess of Love 2007
  6. Warrior Rising 2008
  7. Goddess of Legend 2010
  8. Goddess of Troy 2011
          - This series I have not had any luck finding. I have looked all over the city of Indianapolis and in the small country library I now go to and have not found anything all all. I have thought about ordering it, but am one of those try before you buy types.

Time Raider's series:
 #3 The Avenger 2009

-This is a group effort and she wrote novel 3. I have never read it!

Partholon series:

  1. Divine by Mistake 2001
  2. Divine by Choice 2006
  3. Divine by Blood 2007
                 Novella: Divine Beginnings #0.5, 2009
                 Other: Elphame's Choice 2004
                           Brighid's Quest 2005

          - This one is graphic. It talks about rapes and pillage and much more. I actually have read them all and posted about not letting younger teens read these just because of the graphic nature of the writing. I do think they are somewhat great books, but believe that you should be careful who you let read.

Accidental Magic 2012

Darkness Divine 2010

After Moonrise 2012

Mysteria Nights 2011

I have not read any of the last 4 posted on this. I wanted to but never got to it. Now that I have more free time I will find them and read!

With the help of her accordion-playing foster father, she learns to read and shares her stolen books with her neighbors during bombing raids as well as with the Jewish man hidden in her basement.
ME: I haven't actually read this book. I had a really hard time getting started and never fully go into this. But after watching the trailer for this book I think I will have to add it to my pile. All the fans of this series have been raving and talking about it for years. I know it was probably one if the first to make my list of TBR, but never finished and barely started. Me the ever faithful trier of everything will try and try until I can finish it.
Here is  preview of the movie releasing next year in February.

“Have you ever been swimming here?” I asked moving my head to watch his reaction as I brought my feet up out of the water and folded them beside me.
“Yeah, most summers when I came here. We all used to use it as a way to cool off or just have some fun in between training.”
“How about skinny dipping?” I asked my grin growing due to the thoughts running through my head.
“Why? You want to try it?” he challenged.
“Only if you go first,” I laughed but stopped instantly when he removed his shirt and tossed it behind us. My eyes widened in surprise and I started to regret my words. “You’re not being serious are you?” I stuttered as he pulled off his shoes, throwing them over to where his shirt was crumpled.
“You can’t chicken out now Rea. It was your idea,” he said smiling as he removed each sock, teasing me as they ended up with the rest of his discarded garments.
I just stared at him, my lips moving but not making a sound as I tried to find an excuse.
He laughed at me. “Relax Rea, I’m just teasing you. Well unless you’ve changed your mind. In that case I’m being deadly serious.” He had a cheeky grin on his face as he spoke and I pushed him hard, toppling him into the water below.
There was a lot of splashing but Kai surfaced finally, taking a deep breath as he flicked the hair out of his eyes. I was clutching my stomach in fits of laughter as I bent over. The shock on his face was priceless.
“Oh you are so dead Rea, so, so dead,” he said, his voice ragged as the cold water and shock affected his half naked body. I just continued to laugh as he floated in front of me, his head bobbing up and down in a comical way.

Praise:
“I couldn't put it down. So I finished it last night and all I can say is WOW! This book was amazing and different.” Brianna (Book Blogger)

I loved how the author took a different approach to writing a love story in modern times with the paranormal element present. I thought it was absolutely wonderful and refreshing. Marvelous!” Kathy H (Amazon Reviewer)

In the end I had fallen in love with this story…completely untraditional it was a very original idea, not to mention modern. This story had such a good plot and the story structure was sound.” Kacii – The Kooky Bookworm (Book Blogger)

About the Author
Mia Hoddell lives in the UK with her family and two cats. She spends most of her time writing or reading and loves anything paranormal. Mia always had a love of writing but never reading. She was more interested in sports and hated sitting still - despite getting three poems published before the age of sixteen. Finally though, she found some novels that captured her interest and developed a love of reading which is now one of her favorite hobbies.
Mia began with poems before moving on to short stories. Although she enjoyed this, Mia found she had too much to tell with too little space, so later on she created her first series 'The Wanderer Trilogy' and from there other ideas have emerged. With a total of nine books planned at this moment, she is busy working on her second series 'Elemental Killers' before moving onto the next idea on her ever growing list.

All about Sherry Soule!

Sherry Soule lives with her family and one very spoiled black cat in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is the popular author of the acclaimed YA series, Spellbound and the bestselling paranormal romance novel, Immortal Eclipse. She writes thrilling tales of romance and suspense, often mingled with a dash of the paranormal.
Aside from writing, she enjoys reading poetry, online shopping, digging through flea markets, and exploring old cemeteries and Victorian mansions. She is a major shopaholic and bookaholic, with an epic flair for fashion. Her love of literature began when she was a young girl and it has continued throughout her life.
Sherry briefly owned an online publishing company in 2002, and she is a former Acquisitions Editor for the prestigious, Crescent Moon Press. She was a Creative Writing major in college and she has studied the craft for over ten years. She has won numerous awards for her short stories and online articles. She is a member of RWA, SCBWI, and YALITCHAT.
Sherry’s life changed dramatically when she lost her job in 2009 and was out of work for almost two years. To keep from falling into a hopeless depression, she turned back to her first love—writing fiction. Getting her stories published has been a long journey for Sherry, who decided to go the Indie publishing route after several traditional publishers turned one of her first manuscripts down. Editors and agents loved the storyline, but didn't think it fit the needs of the current market.
Discouraged, but convinced that there was a readership for her work, Sherry published her first novel with a small press and began intensely marketing it on the Internet. Her debut young adult novel, BEAUTIFULLY BROKEN was published August 2011 by Moonlight Publishing. To her delight and surprise, the novel was praised and endorsed by book reviewers and readers everywhere.

Four Sparks Fall by: T.A. Noonan

Publication Date: October 2013

Overview: Sixteen-year-old May Florence is a budding poet who is about to join Louisiana's most elite boarding school. Her brilliant but reserved twin sister, Susanna, isn't. But the truth is, they've been drifting apart for some time, their relationship barely sustained by shared friendships and mutual envy. Now, as Susanna watches May prepare to leave her behind, she must reconcile what she thinks she knows about herself and her sister with the secrets they've been keeping from one another -- or risk losing her closest friend forever. "four sparks fall" is the story of two young adults searching for love and acceptance in Baton Rouge, a city as complex as the people who inhabit it.

My thoughts: This story is very good. I enjoyed the fact that it was very believable. The characters are exactly what you would expect them to be given their circumstances. This story is one that could be common place in today's society.

The layout of the book is tricky to navigate. It gives indication that it is about a set of twins but leaves you to interpret which one is speaking at which time. Once you figure out that one twin is in italics and the other isn't, it's enjoyable.
The sexual abuse and let's face it, it was.....is too much. She deserves what she got for going about things the wrong way.

My rating: 3 stars

Y by: Bonnie Rozanski

Publication Date: August 2010

Overview: The year is 2011, the place, New York City. A mysterious microbe has begun to infect women of child-bearing age. Though the medical establishment writes it off as a simple flu, and the epidemic appears to be dying out, a young New York obstetrician confronts a conundrum. In the past year, the ratio of boys to girls born in her practice has declined precipitously. Dr. Deborah Kruger suspects the truth: that infected women are no longer able to give birth to male children.

With the help of her husband Larry, a computer analyst, Deborah tracks the epicenter to New York City, from which the infection is already bursting forth. And, as years pass, despite hundreds of laboratories at work on it, the microbe continues to overrun borders and envelop the Earth. With Science unable to stop it, and the contagion rippling worldwide in an AIDS-like pandemic, how will society cope in an increasingly female world?

Unquestionably, some changes are inevitable. Companies hire more women; who assume more leadership positions, replacing the male hierarchy with their own female style of management, to great success. Among the younger generation, monogamy is increasingly replaced by polygamy. Wars decrease. Crime falls. Football attendance is down. Ballet is up.

"Y" follows three New York City families for an entire generation, each with its own story. The blue-collar husband proves unable to deal with a wife who has become the major bread-winner. The yuppie husband does well in his career but cannot resist the temptations of a workplace with limitless young women. His wife, turned off from men entirely, will leave him and become a force to reckon with in her own right. And, along the way, the children of all three families struggle to find mates and to secure their own places in this new, Topsy-turvy world.

At once a fast-paced thriller of a gripping race for a cure, a speculative tale about a futuristic society, and a comic battle between the sexes, "Y" is, above all, the story of real people caught up in a society they no longer recognize.

My thoughts: This is far fetched and extreme. I am usually all about the end of the world types, but this one was too much for me and it dealt mainly with humanity. I found it hard to believe and concentrate on. I wanted to for the author be so in love with it, but I just couldn't bring my self to that point. Are woman that much in charge that you believe you could give them dominance over everyone. I feel like it could be anyone's game not just women.
Hoe can you write a futurist novel and not include wireless systems. That brought me back to Y2K and stuff when we only had dial-up internet, I'm not going back.
I did enjoy the sense of humor and would want people to read it just for that, but I'm not feminist and don't really care for the feminist types. I hope the author has great success.

Shut Up by: Anne Tibbets

Publication Date: April 2012

Overview: Mary’s older sister, Gwen, has royally screwed up her life. Not only is Gwen pregnant at seventeen, but she’s also decided to marry The Creep who knocked her up. Now Mary is powerless to stop her family from imploding. Her parents are freaking out, and to top it off, The Creep has a gross fascination with Mary while Gwen enjoys teasing her to tears for sport. Despite her brother’s advice to shut up, Mary can’t keep her trap closed and manages to piss off Mom so much it comes to blows. Mary doesn't know what to do, and all her attempts to get help are rejected. When she finally plans her escape, she fails to consider how it could destroy them all.

My thoughts: This book is an emotional rollarcoaster. The whole family is dysfunctional and out of control. in the best of times things are really great. Life is amazing and everyone is succeeding, but when it gets bad it gets deadly. Gwen has been the source of all the families worst nightmares. A teenager with anger issues is normal, but someone who has been through hell and had no one to turn to is worse then anything else. Her parents don't believe her about her past, but she doesn't make it easy to believe.
Mary is screwed up. I know this feeling having been there myself. You want to do great but at some point you give up, give in, and forget your dreams. You live in a world full of hate and abuse and there is no way out. This girl has been slapped around, verbally abused and let's face it Creep would have molested her if he could and in some ways he went to far already. Gwen is blinded by her love for him.
These parents are in need of help themselves they have been poisoned and need to be set free. The only way they can is counseling, which happens, but is it too late?
I cried reading this. My life was like this, not the same story but the feelings Mary had the thoughts and emotions of the family I had around me for 19 years. I left it and then walked into a different situation. Life is hard and this story shows us a side that most people never get to see. Help those who need help and punish those whose hurt others.

Envy by: Elizabeth Miles

Publication Date: August 2013

Overview: Spring is coming, and the ice is slowly melting in Ascension…revealing the secrets buried beneath.
Emily Winters knows the Furies have roots in Ascension, Maine—but she’s about to discover that they’re deeper than she ever imagined. With the help of her new friend Drea, she vows to dig them out. But it’s hard to focus when she’s desperate to make up with JD, and to figure out why Crow, a mysterious Ascension High dropout, seems to be shadowing her.
Meanwhile, new girl Skylar McVoy is determined to leave her own dark past behind. So she’s thrilled when popular Gabby takes her under her wing, and the stunning and sophisticated Meg offers to give her a major makeover. But everyone knows what happens to the vainest girl of all…
It’s tempting to be naughty. But beware: the Furies are always watching, and their power grows stronger by the day.

My thoughts: The bloody Furies are still here and poor Emily is wasting away. Her best friend thinks she's a flake and J.D. wants nothing to do with her.The only reason J.D. believes that is because the furies made it so. I really feel bad for Emily.
Drea her companion in crime is the only one who gets it and I believe this poor girl has gone loopy. Halfway through the book you get the sense that she has lost all direction. Crow, the new guy in Emily's life is acting shading and popping up in strange places. Is he stalking her because he wants to know her secrets are is he out to save her.
Skyler the new girl, in under fury command. She is wrecking havoc is Gabby's life. She steal, cheats and lies to climb up the social ladder. And honey, don't  you know the higher you climb the harder you fall. And trust me this girl gets what is coming to her.
How to ride the world of Furies, I would like to know. I can't wait for the next installment!

My rating: 4 stars
Up Next: Eternity

Fury by: Elizabeth Miles

Publication Date: August 2012

Overview: Sometimes sorry isn't enough....
It’s winter break in Ascension, Maine. The snow is falling and everything looks pristine and peaceful. But not all is as it seems...
Between cozy traditions and parties with her friends, Emily loves the holidays. And this year’s even better—the guy she’s been into for months is finally noticing her. But Em knows if she starts things with him, there’s no turning back. Because his girlfriend is Em’s best friend.
On the other side of town, Chase is having problems of his own. The stress of his home life is starting to take its toll, and his social life is unraveling. But that’s nothing compared to what’s really haunting him. Chase has done something cruel...something the perfect guy he pretends to be would never do. And it’s only a matter of time before he’s exposed.
In Ascension, mistakes can be deadly. And three girls—three beautiful, mysterious girls—are here to choose who will pay.

My thoughts: The tale of Furies. I am quite obsessed with Greek mythology so this one got me. I was drawn in immediately and wanted things to work out for Emily. I love her character strong with a touch of weakness, which happens to be J.D. And one you think it would be Zach.
Zach the all-star footballer and boyfriend to Gabby, Em's best friend. Emily thinks it's OK to be with him, because he draws her in and make her think he will dump her best friend and that they can continue their relationship. Poor girl, boys lie...friends hate, and great plans are dumb.
I didn't feel this way at first, but after the things that occur in this book it makes one change their way of thinking. I really wanted Emily to be happy with J.D. Considering her best friend is one of those girls who you love to hate and can really do without I wanted Emily to steal her man away. But by the end I wanted her to be happy with J.D. and forget about her friendship with Gabby.
Fate come in many ways, screw me and get screwed kinda thing, seems to be the outcome of this book. Chase forgets about his old friend and he gets what is coming to him. Now Emily is going to get what is coming to her.

The Grimm Chronicles Vol. 1 by: Isabelle Fontaine and Ken Brosky

Publication Date: August 2012

Overview: 200 years ago, the Brothers Grimm unleashed their stories upon the world. Literally.
Now the characters of the Grimm's stories walk among us. With every day that passes, they grow more evil. They are the Corrupted, and only a hero can stop them.
For 18-year-old Alice Goodenough, that means taking precious time off from her summer vacation. In addition to volunteering at the local library, Alice must stop the Corrupted who are now actively hunting her down. With the help of her magic pen and her trusty rabbit friend, the world has suddenly gotten a lot more complex. The Corrupted are everywhere, and only Alice can see them for what they truly are.
Episode 1: Prince Charming Must Die!
Alice Goodenough has been chosen to be the new hero, but not before undergoing a test to see if she's worthy. Shaken, confused, Alice discovers that her weapon is a magic fountain pen and her ammunition is her mind: whatever she can draw, she can create. With the help of a rabbit friend, Alice must learn the ways of the hero and discover the truth about her frightening dreams: who is the terrible creature feeding on its victims at night?
Episode 2: Happily Never After
Alice's nightmares have begun to grow more real. Terrifying man-eating rats are plaguing the city of Chicago, and it's up to Alice to figure out a way to stop them. But before she can do that, she'll have to face off with an even more dangerous enemy sent to kill her.
An enemy that has killed heroes before ...
Episode 3: Revenge of the Castle Cats
After being rushed to the hospital, Alice Goodenough finds herself trapped in the worst dream imaginable: a horrible monster is hunting in the darkness, searching for its next victim: Alice. It will stop at nothing to kill her.
And that's not the worst of it. All across the city, people are growing more addicted to Castle Cats, a smartphone game created by Grayle Incorporated. And it's not just a game. The more you play, the more it controls you. Soon, Alice learns that the dwarfs who run Grayle Incorporated are watching her everywhere she goes, using human beings to spy on her.
There must be a confrontation. Sam Grayle and his brothers have to be stopped. And Alice is going to need help.

My thoughts: Honestly, I liked this book. I believe it fit along side all the others who have begun to emerge trying to bring these fairy tales to a new audience. The character is very relate-able something has yet to be found, in my opinion. She's not your typical: already fit, trained from birth type. She could be anyone, you or me! She has to learn everything thing from the start which is something that needs to be shown, she's the underdog.
This is a different spin on things. Most of the stories keep the good people good and the bad one bad, but they change it up. They make everyone part of The Corrupted/evil. I love the uncertainty whether or not Briar will stay on her side. This seems so real.

There are a few things I would change:
-First, the layout of the book. You are going between three characters thoughts and ways of telling their part, it's a bit much and gets a little confusing. The old journal entries give a good background/back story of information and Briar's part explains when the two are split up, but that's why it took me a while to get through it. I think there has to be a better way to lay that out. To make it easier to get through.
-Secondly, I dislike that the First Corrupted she has to kill is her boyfriend. To me it felt as though she was tossed in the deep end of the pool with out learning to swim and expected to survive. Maybe adding that smaller character to get her feet wet, so we could see her fight the truth of things.
-Third, Her name was a bit odd to me, it seemed a bit last minute.

My rating: 4 stars

I want to Thank all the fans for following, e-mailing and other techniques of getting in touch with me. I have such a great fan base and appreciate your time and thoughtfulness.
This month alone I have gotten more and more input and contact with your guys and I love it.

Tis the Season to give thanks: I want to thanks the fans, God, and my family.
My family encourages me to continue even when I feel no one likes it or wants to read anymore. They push me to continue to write my thoughts and read more. I have relieved many books from fans and from authors and I enjoy most of them. I do donate the duplicates to the local library which thanks you as well.

I hope that this season you will think of those who have nothing and give to them. I am going to help hand out books to the unprivileged. Most people think that is a weird thing to pass out but with out they can not learn. I want kids to learn to love reading as much as I do.
