Crescendo By: Becca Fitzpatrick

Publication Date: October 2010

Synopsis

The sequel to the New York Times Best selling phenomenon, Hush, Hush!
Nora should have know her life was far from perfect. Despite starting a relationship with her guardian angel, Patch (who, title aside, can be described anything but angelic), and surviving an attempt on her life, things are not looking up. Patch is starting to pull away and Nora can't figure out if it's for her best interest or if his interest has shifted to her arch-enemy Marcie Millar. Not to mention that Nora is haunted by images of her father and she becomes obsessed with finding out what really happened to him that night he left for Portland and never came home.
The farther Nora delves into the mystery of her father's death, the more she comes to question if her Nephilim blood line has something to do with it as well as why she seems to be in danger more than the average girl. Since Patch isn't answering her questions and seems to be standing in her way, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?

My thoughts:
Rixon is evil. I know Vee thinks she's in love with this man, but something about him told me he was wicked and now i know!
Marcie is a luny. She has lived a privileged life and still acts like a cow. And she thinks Patch is all her.. Well girl you got another thing coming.
Vee reminds me of my best friend who always comes to bail you out, when you need her most too.
Patch is amazing. If I could have any guardian angel I want I would choose him....really.
All this business with the Black Hand gives me chills and I don't think we've heard the last of it yet. Especially considering it has to do with Macie and Nora's dad.
Patch my dear boy...goes ROgue to be with Nora how romantic. But who knows what will happen now that he is fighting with Nora's dad I hope he gets away.....

Synopsis

After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri's birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir's—and to her best friend, Lissa. It is at long last graduation, and the girls can't wait for their real lives beyond the Academy's iron gates to begin. But Rose's heart still aches for Dimitri, and she knows he's out there, somewhere.
She failed to kill him when she had the chance. And now her worst fears are about to come true. Dimitri has tasted her blood, and now he is hunting her. And this time he won't rest until Rose joins him . . . forever.
My Thoughts: In this book the world id changing not on for the Moroi but for the Dhampirs as wee. One is the age law and to move it to 16 I think is ridiculous. we all know the Rose is special. There is no way a normal dhampir could do what she did at her age.
Victor is out of jail and on the run. Thanks to Rose, Lissa, and Eddie. But he helped them find the answer they needed about bring Strigoi back to life.
Dimitri is no longer Strigoi, after obtaining their info Lissa charmed a stake with spirit and used it to turn him dhampir again. Yeah I'm so happy. I thought I'd have to go into the book and kill him for Rose.
Priscilla Voda's dead Dimitri and his gang did that while he was still dead. And can I say that fight was well scary I thought for sure he would kill Lissa because that's what the Strigoi want. Is all the royal families demolished.
Queen Tatiana is dead and someone, an idiot, framed Rose. This really makes me mad because if the court was smart they would know that Rose wouldn't frame herself. She would frame some loser who deserved to be locked away.
Now Rose is on her way to jail....ugh. I hope she gets out this is getting exciting.
This line that was written broke my heart and I can understand why Rose cried......"Love fades, Mine has" ......Dimitri I could kick your butt my self.

Blood Promise by: Richelle Mead

Publication Date: April 2010

Synopsis

How far will Rose go to keep her promise? The recent Strigoi attack at St. Vladimir's Academy was the deadliest ever in the school's history, claiming the lives of Moroi students, teachers, and guardians alike. Even worse, the Strigoi took some of their victims with them. . . including Dimitri. He'd rather die than be one of them, and now Rose must abandon her best friend, Lissa—the one she has sworn to protect no matter what—and keep the promise Dimitri begged her to make long ago. But with everything at stake, how can she possibly destroy the person she loves most?

My thoughts: Rose travels around Russia in order to find Dimitri to kill him. Along the way she meets Sydney, and Alchemist.
While rose is away from st. V's, a new headmaster steps in named Eugene Lamar. He has a daughter and a son named Avery and Reed! Avery's guardian is Simon. Avery unfortunately for everyone at school is bad news. She influences Lissa in the wrong ways causing many problems in Lissa's life.
After Rose kills 2 strigoi she passes out. After she wakes up she learns that she is at Dimitri's old home with his family.  While there she meets Olena (his mom), his sisters: Sonya, Karolina, and Viktoria, plus his grandmother Yeva. she tells them about the attack on the school and everything that happen to Dimitri.
Rose is threatened by a man named Abe Mauer---who she later learns is her father. So she leaves town to finish her hunt for Dimitri and she finds him. Instead of killing him he takes her captive and hold s her against her will. Dimitri begs her to let him change her but she wants nothing to do with it. Finally she escapes and fights with dimitri on a bridge, where she think she has killed him. Only later she receives a letter from him telling that he wishes her luck on her trials.
Trails in which make her a guardian...Rose passes the test with flying colors and is now able to be someones guardian.

Synopsis

Is Rose's fate to kill the person she loves most? It's springtime at St. Vladimir's Academy, and Rose Hathaway is this close to graduation. Since Mason's death, Rose hasn't been feeling quite right. She has dark flashbacks in the middle of practice, can't concentrate in class, and has terrifying dreams about Lissa. But Rose has an even bigger secret . . . .She's in love with Dimitri. And this time, it's way more than a crush.
Then Strigoi target the academy in the deadliest attack in Moroi history, and Dimitri is taken. Rose must protect Lissa at all costs, but keeping her best friend safe could mean losing Dimitri forever…

My thoughts: Victor finally gets his day on court....and after a lot of begging and some pulled strings (thanks to Adrian), Lissa and Rose get to attend.
Unfortunately for Rose that's about when she starts going crazy...or so she think. Mason appears to her many times in the book, little does she know at first, he's trying to warn her of a future attack on the school.
Rose and the other novices start guardian exercises one in which you have to follow your assigned Moroi around to protect them from fake attacks. Rose has to guard Christian instead of Lissa and she's not happy. Eddie is guarding Lissa. After Rose freezes on an attack the school figures out that Rose has been under too much stress and cut back on her and put her into counseling.
Rose and Dimitri finally hook up------AMEN!
After the hook-up they are on their way back to school when the strigoi attack. Dimitri sends Rose for help with the code word Buria , which is Russian for Storm.
In the fight the school loses 15 moroi and 12 guardians...they kill 28 strigoi. But the strigoi kidnapped 13 moroi and guardians.
In a mission that could kill many they set out to get back their stolen ones. In that fight they lose 6 guardians and Dimitri is taken and according to masons ghost he's now Strigoi.
Rose sets on on a mission to kill the one she loves.

Frostbite by: Richelle Mead

Publication date: April 2008

Synopsis:

Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose…
It's winter break at St. Vladimir's, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy's crawling with Guardians—including Rose's hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if hand to hand combat with her mom wasn't bad enough, Rose's tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason's got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa's head while she's making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy's not taking any risks….This year, St. Vlad's annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.
But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price…

My thoughts: Dealing with a estranged mother I'm sure is difficult. But when your mother gives you a black eye...Oh my! Poor Rose and.....Hello Janine
I'm truly happy that Lissa is in love and although Christian seems rough around the edges, which I know is because of dealing with the things from his past. I'm glad though that with Lissa he isn't mean. He's seems to be really good for her.
His aunt on the other hand can go away! I know she isn't purposely taking Dimitri away but to Rose (whose in love with him)it hurts and I can't even imagine the jealousy that Rose feels. For the history that Tasha and Dimitri have who knows what could happen.
YAY! Rose got her first 2 Strigoi killings, even though she lost a great friend,Mason. She should celebrate...It's not easy to kill those evil creatures. And although she doesn't have her promise mark she now has two cool molnija marks.
I can't believe that Mason was dumb enough to be led out into the open world by Mia to hunt down Strigoi who killed her family. Then ROse and Christian follow and they all get kidnapped and in trying to escape sure Rose kills 2 but not before they kill Mason.

Vampire Academy by:Richelle Mead

Publication date: January 2009

Synopsis

St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school—it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's—the very place where they're most in danger. . . .
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy's ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world's fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.

My Thoughts: Last year when I went to the book store I picked up this book just to find a quick something to read in the nap room at work (I work with small children). I instantly feel in love with this book.
Especially Dimitri and Rose..the two of them whether separate or apart are amazing characters.
I enjoy Rose's devil may care ways. something I wish I used more of as a teenager...LOL
Lissa's torturous life has got to be hard to deal with and I believe the writer did a good job balancing the drama with her and Rose. But this poor girl first watches her family die and can only save one and chose her best friend and "guardian", it was a hard choice and I'm sure it was the right one. But in this book she come back to school after being out on her own with Rose and everyone stares and whispers. then her uncle lets her cousin stalk her and then her uncle has her kidnapped and forces her to use her powers to save him from death.
Christian, I'm not sure in this book whether I love him or hate him. There really is no need for the attitude he gives of....I mean I do understand everything he's gone through with his parents having been Strigoi and everyone talking about him but that doesn't mean he gets to be a complete dork to Lissa and Rose when he first meets them.
Dimitri....I love, love, love, Dimitri. And if I were a novice I would definitely want him to be my personal trainer....

Need by: Carrie Jones

Publicatipn date: December 2009

Synopsis: Zara collects phobias the way other high school girls collect lipsticks. Little wonder, since life’s been pretty rough so far. Her father left, her stepfather just died, and her mother’s pretty much checked out. Now Zara’s living with her grandmother in sleepy, cold Maine so that she stays “safe.” Zara doesn’t think she’s in danger; she thinks her mother can’t deal.

Wrong. Turns out that guy she sees everywhere, the one leaving trails of gold glitter, isn’t a figment of her imagination. He’s a pixie—and not the cute, lovable kind with wings. He’s the kind who has dreadful, uncontrollable needs. And he’s trailing Zara.
With suspense, romance, and paranormal themes, this exciting breakout novel has all the elements to keep teens rapidly turning the pages.

My thoughts: Umm.... can you say werewolves, tigers and eagles...oh my!
When I stared reading this book I laugh at the thought of pixies being evil, only due to my extreme love of fairies and pixies.
I have to say that Ian and Megan gave me the creeps right from the start and I glad to know there was a reason for it. And I can say good going Gran for taking  care of that mess.
I feel bad for Zara who watches her step-father, whom is more of a father, die. how tragic. And now she understand why and what caused the whole thing. Why though did the pixie show up so far from Maine? I wondered for her mother or her! but we soon learn that he is her father the King of pixies and he's after her mom but if her can't have her mother he will take her. Creepy!
And Zara then realizes she is part Pixie and part human....so therefore all pixies aren't bad.
Dear Nick...could you be my protector....and werewolf boyfriend....LOL! To bad Zara found you first!

The Hollow by: Jessica Verday

Publication Date: August 2010

Synopsis: When Abbey's best friend, Kristen, vanishes at the bridge near Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, everyone else is all too quick to accept that Kristen is dead?and rumors fly that her death was no accident. Abbey goes through the motions of mourning her best friend, but privately, she refuses to believe that Kristen is really gone. Then she meets Caspian, the gorgeous and mysterious boy who shows up out of nowhere at Kristen's funeral, and keeps reappearing in Abbey's life. Caspian clearly has secrets of his own, but he's the only person who makes Abbey feel normal again...but also special.

Just when Abbey starts to feel that she might survive all this, she learns a secret that makes her question everything she thought she knew about her best friend. How could Kristen have kept silent about so much? And could this secret have led to her death? As Abbey struggles to understand Kristen's betrayal, she uncovers a frightening truth that nearly unravels her one that will challenge her emerging love for Caspian, as well as her own sanity.

My thoughts: Poor Abbey....i could never imagine losing my best friend and for her obviously her only friend. And to have to continue on like everyone else already has would be difficult. And to bury your friend's coffin with no body...ugh. I wonder what truly happened and who is this mysteries "D". And according to Kristen's second diary she was really in love with him. would he have killed her?
Let me ask you this, even if you know you aren't suppose to tell anyone about your relationship don't you share that secret with someone....I would! I would find someone that knows none of my other friends and tell them. Due to the dangerous world we live in of course!! So why did Kristen so faithfully believe that she couldn't tell
abbey about her boyfriend? Was he threatening her?
Caspian, Dear ghost boy, If Abbey can't really have you as her boyfriend then leave her alone. all he's doing is torturing her.
Nicholas and Katey if what they say is true, then why can't Kristen still be alive, like they are and Caspian?
Ben is like that best guy friend anyone could have, but deep down you know you want to be more than his friend, but only if your life wasn't so messed up!
I hope Abbey can handle everything that's been dropped on her plate.
