Mirage by: Kristi Cook

Publication Date: June 2012

Overview: Danger looms large in the sequel to Haven, which Booklist called “a blend of the Gemma Doyle trilogy, the Twilight saga, and Lois Duncan’s thrillers.”
Violet McKenna is back for her senior year at Winterhaven and thrilled to be with Aidan after a long summer apart. But while their love for each other is as strong as ever, their troubles are far from over.
News of a rogue vampire on a killing spree sets everyone on edge. While Aidan is determined to stop the killer, Violet is chilled by a horrifying vision she simply must prevent...for if she can’t, two people she loves will meet a violent end.
In the midst of Violet’s fear, a mysterious newcomer enters her life—and he has some vital information not just about her past, but about her future as well. Now everything Violet held as truth is upended, and she is left not knowing whom to trust, if she is in danger, and—worst of all—whether she and Aidan are really meant to be together.

My thoughts: I would be lying if I said this was an easy read. There is  much to remember. All the kids have special talents, some more then others.
Then you must remember whom is with who. It's quite confusing at times.
I think with that many characters you must keep the story line simple and this is anything but simple.
I do love several of the characters, especially the new ones: Matthew and Tyler.

Nevermore by: Kelly Creagh

Publication Date: August 2011

Overview: And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door;
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming,
And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor;
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lifted - nevermore!
— from "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe
At once an homage to one of America's greatest writers and a page-turning psychological mystery that is equal parts horror, humor, and romance, NEVERMORE is the story of Varen — a Poe-fan and goth — and Isobel — a cheerleader and unlikely heroine. When a Lit. project pairs the two together, Isobel finds herself steadily swept into Varen's world, one that he has created in his notebook and in his mind, one where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life. Isobel slowly learns that dreams can be much more powerful than she'd ever expected, and that pain and despair come in all sorts of shades. As labels of "goth" and "cheerleader" fade away, she sees more in Varen than a tall, pale outcast, and a consuming romance is braced against the ever-clearer horror that the most terrifying realities are those within our own minds.
When Isobel has a single chance to rescue Varen from the shadows of his own nightmares, will she be able to save him — and herself?

My thoughts: I'm not really a fan of Poe, so parts of this that referred to him just got under my skin. It's a good thing this story revolved more around the characters then him:)
I love Isobel and Varen together, I enjoyed their story of discovery in each other... amazing. They are in love and although she never gets to tell him and vice versa, I  am sure they both feel that string connection they have to one another.
The ending left me cold, yet wanting more. I hate the way things turn out, but I know the author thought it best to leave us hanging and keeping us begging for more.

Starcrossed By: Josephine Angelini

Publication Date: May 2011

Overview: Helen Hamilton has spent her entire sixteen years trying to hide how different she is—now it's getting harder. She's having nightmares of a desperate desert journey, visions of three women weeping tears of blood. And why is she possessed by the sudden, unstoppable urge to kill the handsome new boy in school, Lucas Delos?
A love written in the stars . . .
A feud started in ancient Greece . . .
A curse not even the gods can break.

My thoughts: This one was wonderful. IF you get pass the never ending, but well written history lesson, you will fully enjoy this.
For some, you may totally enjoy it, but for others like myself; I found myself frustrated by the Greek  mythology that we were forced into. We all know the stories of love, hatred and war,  and yet we had to read it all over again. And not just once, the author referred back to it at every chance.
It's sad to see this family torn apart by killings. Even if it was by mistake, your heart breaks for Hector. I know that Helen and Lucas will find a way to help Hector and hopefully find a way to be together again. I'm positive that Daphne is up to no good and she'll be found out.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

My thoughts: It's not very often you find a book that cal real you in rather quickly, and when you find said book you want to read it all the way through as fast as you can to know all you can. This is one of those books. So well written it broke my hear when it was over. I read it twice thinking I must have missed something, but no I got all the details.
America is beautiful but doesn't realize the beauty, out and in. She's in love with a boy whose to  low for her and finds herself thrust into a game of chance to win the prince's heart. -Now just reading that doesn't it make you want to know more.

The Girl of Fire and Thorns by: Rae Carson

Publication Date: September 20, 2011

Overview: Once a century, one person is chosen for greatness.
Elisa has always felt powerless, useless. Now, on her sixteenth birthday, she has become the secret wife of a handsome and worldly king—a king who needs her to be the chosen one, not a failure of a princess. And he's not the only one who seeks her. Savage enemies, seething with dark magic, are hunting her. A daring, determined revolutionary thinks she could save his people. And he looks at her in a way no man has ever looked at her before. Elisa could be everything to those who need her most. If the prophecy is fulfilled. If she finds the power deep within herself. If she doesn't die young.
Most of the chosen do.

My thoughts: How in God's name could a father allow his daughter to marry at 16? OMG!!!!
I know she's a princess and it's normal to wed them off, but even I know 16 year-olds aren't mature enough to handle marriage and other things that go with it.
Elisa grows up a lot. she gains friends, enemies, and a son to go along with that husband. She's a fighter though and hangs in there destroying the enemy, losing her new husband, but gaining knowledge and power.

The Dark Divine by: Bree Despain

Publication Date: December 2009

Overview: Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared--the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in blood--but she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night held.
The memories her family has tried to bury resurface when Daniel returns, three years later, and enrolls in Grace and Jude's high school. Despite promising Jude she'll stay away, Grace cannot deny her attraction to Daniel's shocking artistic abilities, his way of getting her to look at the world from new angles, and the strange, hungry, glint in his eyes.
The closer Grace gets to Daniel, the more she jeopardizes her life, as her actions stir resentment in Jude and drive him to embrace the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind the boys' dark secret...and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it--her soul.

My thoughts: This one was frustrating. One because they paint Pete as evil, and OK, I know he gets handsy or whatever. But really what teenage boy isn't handsy at some point.
Then they place Don, a well meaning mentally challenged guy in the picture. And he he only gets to give us hints of things before he dies.
The Divine family is quite the group! But you have to love the dynamic they have. Daniel and Grace, I love the story of 2 childhood friends who fall in love with one another. Even if they have challenges to face I still want them to be together in the end.
I believe that there is more to Grace being bitten they they think.

On top of all this is is the target for yet another evil creature. But this time it's Nyx's children who have started haunting G in her dreams. My thoughts: Haven and 2 friends are chosen for and internship at a local hotel. It is opening it's doors after being closed for many years, because of tragedy.
What Haven doesn't realize is she was chosen because she's angel. Oh boy!!!! And so are her friends. This is weird for me to thing that she is just suddenly realizing that her friends have the same scars she has.
After one of her friends are poisoned, the other two must work together to figure out what to do next.

Claire has no fear though and fights, even almost sacrificing herself to get what she wants a peaceful town, love of Shane and friends Michael and Eve!

Jessica Rules the Dark Side by: Beth Fantaskey

Publication Date: January 2012

Overview: It’s one thing to find out you’re a vampire princess. It’s a whole other thing to actually rule. Newly married Jessica Packwood is having a hard enough time feeling regal with her husband, Lucius, at her side. But when evidence in the murder of a powerful elder points to Lucius, sending him into solitary confinement, Jessica is suddenly on her own. Determined to clear her husband’s name, Jessica launches into a full-scale investigation, but hallucinations and nightmares of betrayal keep getting in her way. Jessica knows that with no blood to drink, Lucius’s time is running out. Can she figure out who the real killer is—and whom she can trust—before it’s too late?

My thoughts: Jessica is married and her husband is wrongly accused, or so we think and thrown in jail with no blood to be given to him, which is fatal to a vampire. He is accused of murdering his uncle. Which if he did was just I think but if he didn't then who did?
his stake was found with blood on it and now there is trial to trying a figure out who did it. While doing this Jessica is ruling the vampires, but someone keeps her poisoned and she is having trouble ruling. She finally gets courage and with her friend's help find that her family is the one against her and her husband.

But Jill’s accidental taste of a formula unleashes her darkest nature and compels her to risk everything—even Tristen’s love—just for the thrill of being . . . bad.

My thoughts: Jill's father is gruesomely murdered and she's trying to carry on. her mother is devastated. Her mom really for all my thoughts has given up. she's depressed and crying all the time, but working overtime to bring in money to pay bills.
Tristen has feelings for Jill and being near her has consequences. Together they find a cure for something his dad is denying he has.

Succubus Heat by: Richelle Mead

Publication Date: June 2009

Overview: Georgina Kincaid has been a bad, bad succubus. . .
. . .which should be a good thing. But lately, thanks to her foul mood over breaking up with bestselling writer Seth Mortensen, she's been so wicked that Seattle's über-demon Jerome, decides to "outsource " Georgina to a rival—and have her spy for him in the process.
Being exiled to the frozen north—okay, Vancouver—and leaving Seth in the cozy clutches of his new girlfriend is unpleasant enough. Then Jerome is kidnapped, and all immortals under his control mysteriously lose their powers. One bright spot: with her life-sucking ability gone, there's nothing to keep Georgina from getting down and dirty with Seth—nothing apart from his girlfriend that is. Now, as the supernatural population starts turning on itself, a newly mortal Georgina must rescue her boss and figure out who's been playing them—or all hell will break loose. . .

My thoughts: Dealing with Seth's relationship with Seth is awful for Georgina, and luckily for her she gets loaned out to another group to figure out how to ease the fighting. But Georgina's boss get kidnapped and they must figure out how to get through life without their powers, or at least get through the next few days.
Georgina also gets the crap beat out of her, she must be healed but most have lost there powers. When they find someone to heal her and they figure out who hurt her they realize who could be the one to have kidnapped Jerome. They then rescue Jerome. And things return to normal, but not before Georgina finally hooks up with Seth.

Girls that Growl by: Mari Mancusi

Publication Date: October 2007

OverviewThird in Mancusi's hip, sassy vampire series, featuring the heroine of Stake That!
She's a vampire. She's also a vampire slayer. (It's a long story.) And now Rayne McDonald, Goth girl, has to carry out her most deviant mission yet: trying out for the cheerleading squad.
Rayne already has enough on her plate: her twin keeps whining about whether or not to go all the way; her mom's boyfriend is moving in; and her man, Jareth, who's now allowed out in the sun, has turned from a dark, brooding hottie vamp into a surfer dude.
But this vampire slayer is still on the clock, and she has a new assignment. A member of the football team has disappeared-and her bosses at Slayer Inc. think the cheerleaders had something to do with it. Now they want her to infiltrate the squad and get the dirt. But first, she'll need an extreme prep makeover. If only they'd let her wear fishnets under that revolting uniform.

My thoughts:
I am addicted to this series. I got them from the library and I can't stop.....pick them up......really!!!
Rayne is having a rough time being a vampire. Being a blood mate should be easy, but it's not. But when you are dealing with your mom dating a new guy and your sister dating the king vampire, and her possible sex life, plus school. Things can kind build up. I don't blame Rayne for having problems, but this girl needs to get a handle on it.
Cheerleaders are turning into werewolves and Ryane needs to figure out how to stop it and find the missing boys, but did they girls eat them? Ewe!
No wonder everything is so rough for Rayne and she crashes her car and get kidnapped by an evil werewolf.
So glad she has Jareth to come to the rescue.

Stake That by: Mari Mancusi

Publication Date: December 2006

Overview: A fresh voice and fresh blood - it adds up to one very sassy vampire series...
Sisters. They'll swipe your clothes, your boyfriends, your destiny. But it wasn't exactly Rayne's twin Sunny's fault. Magnus, a vamp hottie and coven leader, mistook Sunny for Rayne last month and bit her instead. Now they're doing the inter-species dating thing.
Turns out that for every generation, there's a Vampire Slayer - and this time around, it just happens to be Rayne MacDonald. Her first mission: infiltrate a seedy vamp bar downtown and expose its vampire owner for purposely spreading a blood disease he created himself - a task almost harder than passing trig.
After going it alone once, Rayne realizes she needs help. So Magnus sends his sexy Goth buddy Jareth to go undercover with her. And, frankly, Rayne wouldn't mind going under the covers with him. Maybe fate doesn't bite after all...

My thoughts: Rayne....the other half of Sunny. She wants to be a vampire so bad, but turns out she's a slayer.
Working with a vampire to uncover the wrong doings of Maverick.
Turns out vamps are getting sick and donors are dying.
Jareth and Rayne can't stand each other at first and set out together to figure out what is going on. They fall for each other along with finding out that Maverick is poisoning the donors.
They find a sample of the poison and try to get it back to the coven but Rayne gets infected and will die. Jareth can't live without her, surprise......I love these too.

A blood trial that only one of them can survive. But everything Schuyler thought she knew about the gate turns out to be a lie, and they soon find themselves ensnared in a deadly battle against the demon-born. Schuyler and Jack take up arms, only to realize that there is a much graver threat simmering in the Kingdom of the Dead.
Meanwhile, determined to save the only vampire she still loves, Mimi has followed Kingsley Martin into Hell. With the help of her new human Conduit, Oliver Hazard-Perry, Mimi makes a bargain with the Queen of the Dead that she may soon regret. When the time comes to choose between love and revenge, both Mimi and Oliver will learn the true meaning of sacrifice.
Confronted by danger, betrayal, and loss at every turn, the Blue Bloods must find the will to fight—and love—another day.

My thoughts: I was really excited for this one beaucse I am really into Sky and Jack. I don't have any cares about the otheres. I mean it is nice to know where Mimi is with Oliver, so to know what she is capable of.
I love that she is only concerned for herself for most of the book. Finding Kingsley and saving him. I think that is dumb but for one I am glad that she isn't chasing Jack.
I am so glad that Sky is not pregnant, as cool as that would be I just don't think right now is the time to have a baby.
I know Jack thinks she has the same thing her mother had, which is causing her to be sick, but I really hope it's not. I don't think anything good will come of it.
When Jack has to face Mimi, I love it he doesn't fight back....really and truly.
