Her father does what he can and takes her far from home and gives the lovebirds the space that headcase Christian doesn't like but really needs.

Banished by: Sophie Littlefield

Publication Date:
October 2010

Overview:

There isn’t much worth living for in Gypsum, Missouri—or Trashtown, as the rich kids call the run-down neighborhood where sixteen-year-old Hailey Tarbell lives. Hailey figures she’ll never belong—not with the popular kids at school, not with the rejects, not even with her cruel, sickly grandmother, who deals drugs out of their basement. Hailey never knew her dead mother, and she has no idea who her father was, but at least she has her four-year-old foster brother, Chub. Once she turns eighteen, Hailey plans to take Chub far from Gypsum and start a new life where no one can find them.

But when a classmate is injured in gym class, Hailey discovers a gift for healing that she never knew she possessed—and that she cannot ignore. Not only can she heal, she can bring the dying back to life. Confused by her powers, Hailey searches for answers but finds only more questions, until a mysterious visitor shows up at Gram’s house, claiming to be Hailey’s aunt Prairie.

There are people who will stop at nothing to keep Hailey in Trashtown, living out a legacy of despair and suffering. But when Prairie saves both Hailey and Chub from armed attackers who invade Gram’s house in the middle of the night, Hailey must decide where to place her trust. Will Prairie’s past, and the long-buried secret that caused her to leave Gypsum years earlier, ruin them all? Because as Hailey will soon find out, their power to heal is just the beginning.

My thoughts:
Hailey has to live her life in fear and neglect and let me tell you her granmother needs a butt kicking. She has no buisness taking care of her and letting strangers into their home. She also deals drugs and drinks to much, that alone should send CPS to her house often. But no, and hailey has to learn to deal.
Until the day she heals a classmate. She shouldn't have done it, but what can I say if I saw a girl dying I would try to save her too. But then Hailey's would turns topsy turvy. She finds a ticket for Dublin and some money. Then her aunt shows up from out of no where and takes Hailey on the run. Will this be all?
I didn't care enough about this book to read the second, there may be a time I regret that but right now...I stand by my choice.

The Devouring by: Simon Holt

Publication Date:
June 2009

Overview:

When Reggie finds an old journal and reads about the Vours, supernatural creatures who feast on fear and attack on the eve of the winter solstice, she assumes they are just the musings of some lunatic author. But soon, they become a terrifying reality when she begins to suspect that her timid younger brother might be one of their victims.

Risking her life and her sanity, Reggie enters a living nightmare to save the people she loves. Can she devour own her fears before they devour her?

My thoughts:
I actually had all the books in this series to read, but after reading this one...I got rid of all.
Reggie like my family, enjoys scary tales and reads them to her little brother. Quite a mistake when the Vours she's reading about turn out to be real, they suck her brother away little by little then they attack her.
He's an ass, but Reggie and her best friend Aaron believe they can save him. Then Reggie finds she can get into the darkness, will it be enough to save her brother or just further help the Vours.

The End of you and Me by: Wendi M. Lee

Publication Date:
April 2014

Overview:
Sixteen-year old Kate can't live without London. Their friendship is intense to the point of obsession. Nothing else matters: not dating, college applications, or her military father’s disapproval. When beautiful red-haired Anastasia sweeps into town and becomes fast friends with the pair, life changes forever. Suddenly Kate's quiet world is threatened. What makes an honor-student like Kate snap? Is it a redhead armed with seduction and lies? And how far will either of them go to get what they want?

My thoughts:
Kate and London are nest friends, and have never been romantic towards each other.
Anastasia comes to town and things change, she makes them try things and see things that they have never imagined before.
London has been craving adventure so it doesn't take much to draw him into it. But Kate is happy with their quiet life.
Anastasia threatens everything. One ends up in jail, and the other suspended and someone could quite possible be dead.
The end leaves me wanting more...especially answers.

What Would Emma Do? By: Eileen Cook

Publication Date:
December 2008

Overview:

Thou Shalt Not Kiss Thy Best Friend’s Boyfriend...again...

There is no greater sin than kissing your best friend’s boyfriend. So when Emma breaks that golden rule, she knows she’s messed up big-time...especially since she lives in the smallest town ever, where everyone knows everything about everyone else...and especially since she maybe kinda wants to do it again. Now her best friend isn’t speaking to her, her best guy friend is making things totally weird, and Emma is running full speed toward certain social disaster. This is so not the way senior year was supposed to go.
Time to pray for a minor miracle. Or maybe, just maybe, it’s time for Emma to stop trying to please everyone around her, and figure out what she wants for herself.

My thoughts:
Emma is rebellious and sometime crass, but I love it.
In a town similar to the one I grew up in, life is hard and painfully slow.
When you fall in love with your best friends guy, it can only get worse. But he also happens to be your best friend and crap is about to hit the fan hard.
Darci is evil and truth be told you can see the evil pretty quickly. She's fake and fake people never win, in the end! What would you do for a friend?
