Let the Sky Fall by: Shannon Messenger

Publication Date:
December 2013

Overview:
Seventeen-year-old Audra is a sylph, an air elemental. She walks on the wind, can translate its alluring songs, and can even coax it into a weapon with a simple string of commands. She’s also a guardian—Vane’s guardian—and has sworn an oath to protect Vane at all costs. Even if it means sacrificing her own life.

When a hasty mistake reveals their location to the enemy who murdered both of their families, Audra’s forced to help Vane remember who he is. He has a power to claim—the secret language of the West Wind, which only he can understand. But unlocking his heritage will also unlock the memory Audra needs him to forget. And as the storm bears down on them, she starts to realize the greatest danger might not be the warriors coming to destroy them—but the forbidden romance that’s grown between them.

My thoughts:
Audra is wind and sent to protect Vane, really her family had been protecting him for years. But did he know any of that, no. Vane knows something is weird with his life but he wasn't sure what it was. He is the last west wind, due to an attack on all Westerlies to learn their knowledge
Audra trains Vane, but all the while being with him causes feelings. Not just feelings  from her but him as well, (insert perverted thoughts, by Vane) and I believe these two belong together.
Spending all that time together also brings up a painful past....due to the love they have maybe they can make it through.
In most opinions Vanes life turn messy when the girl shows up, but I know that things are going to get better if they can defeat the powers that be. I would say it is all hard to deal with but I'm not a forcefield of my own!
And to find out who has caused all the problems is the worst.

My rating:
4 stars
