Ink Exchange By: Melissa Marr

Publication Date: March 2009

Synopsis: Unbeknownst to mortals, a power struggle is unfolding in a world of shadows and danger. After centuries of stability, the balance among the Faery Courts has altered, and Irial, ruler of the Dark Court, is battling to hold his rebellious and newly vulnerable fey together. If he fails, bloodshed and brutality will follow.

Seventeen-year-old Leslie knows nothing of faeries or their intrigues. When she is attracted to an eerily beautiful tattoo of eyes and wings, all she knows is that she has to have it, convinced it is a tangible symbol of changes she desperately craves for her own life.
The tattoo does bring changes not the kind Leslie has dreamed of, but sinister, compelling changes that are more than symbolic. Those changes will bind Leslie and Irial together, drawing Leslie deeper and deeper into the faery world, unable to resist its allures, and helpless to withstand its perils...

My Thoughts: I'm so sad for Leslie. This poor girl has come through everything....Things most people could never imagine would happen to them. She's so young and yet has been raped by her brother's friend, neglected by her family, and has taken a job to pay the family bills. My heart goes out to anyone who has these kinds of problems...mostly because I've dealt with them too.
So leslie goes to get a tattoo for herself and ends up trapped as a slave girl for Irial, the King of the Dark Court for fey.
Rabbit a friend and tattooist should have known better than to get her mixed up in these things and her other friends should have been more involved and steeped in a stopped all of these things from happening! This girl needs better friends not that she would know or understand.
That tattoo by the way is Irail's blood and is used to bond them! EEEEWWWWWW!!!!!
While all of this is going on Niall a fey who loves her is trying to find a way out of this mess for her. and finds the only thing he can think of. Is to use her friend the Summer Queen's sunlight to burn her back bad enough that it breaks the bond between her and Irial.......But Niall ends up the new King of the Dark court.

My rating: 4 stars
