Hunger Games by: Suzanne Collins

Publication Date: July 1, 2010

Synopsis: In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before-and survival.

My thoughts: I thought I'd do this one in parts:
1. Katniss...now here is a girl to feel bad for. Not only for her name...LOL, but for her family's misfortune. Her dad dies, mom goes into shock and then her sister get picked for the stupid Hunger Games.
The only thing Kat can think to do, which was a great decision, she took her sisters place in a game that would have surely killed her.
Kat's a fighter no doubt about that, she's already disobeyed rules by hunting with GAle, her bff, in the woods. So this game will be a piece of cake...lol or so I hope.
Beside her bravery is a wonderful talent to have.
2. Wow...this game is fierce and to survive Kat does things that are unthinkable...like cutting a jackets nest down on top of the CAreers, who are an enemy to her in the game, killing some and injuring others and herself in the process, But Peeta saves her...yay!
Kat makes friends with the youngest player, Rue, whose 12. And together they make a plan to get the others by destroying their supplies. Kat gets injured in the process and Rue ends up being killed. But Kat gets her revenge by killing the boy who killed Rue, Cato.
RULE CHANGE: if 2 from your group are alive both can win.
3. Kat finds Peeta almost dead and helps save him by fighting for the cure to his blood poisoning. After days of kissing and hiding out they finally decide to take a stand and fight it out....which was great because I think the game would have gone on forever....ugh. They end up sticking together and winning. Even after the game-makers say they are changing the rules back and the duo make a plan to end their lives together in order to show the game-makers they can't change the rules with out some kind of bad luck....
Peeta is really in love with Kat, but can Kat love him??????
I really want her to be with Gale....you know kid friends who one day see the light and think the other is amazing and they end up together......Sorry Peeta my votes for Gale.

Pegasus by: Robin McKinley

Publication Date: November 2010

Synopsis:

A gorgeously written fantasy about the friendship between a princess and her Pegasus.
Because of a thousand-year-old alliance between humans and pagasi, Princess Sylviianel is ceremonially bound to Ebon, her own Pegasus, on her twelfth birthday. The two species coexist peacefully, despite the language barriers separating them. Humans and pegasi both rely on specially-trained Speaker magicians as the only means of real communication.
But its different for Sylvi and Ebon. They can understand each other. They quickly grow close-so close that their bond becomes a threat to the status quo-and possibly to the future safety of their two nations.

My thoughts: I have to tell you I tried forever, it felt like, to read this book. I actually went as far as saying I have to read a chapter a day! Never got past chapter four...really dreadfully boring. I'm sure it has to get better but for my to try would mean a painful death. The language was rich and this is something that I've never had a problem with before. I hope you readers are not disappointed. I will try it again but not any time soon...due to the overwhelming TBR pile that seems to grow by day.....LOl. But I do love my family for buying me books. Check out Barnes and Noble for more reviews if you are still on the edge.

Ghost Town by: Rachel Caine

Publication Date: October 2010

VOYA: Claire repairs the town's security measures after she is sentenced by the Founder to do so without rest. Morganville is a unique place where humans and vampires reside. Those leaving the town are supposed to have their memory erased. Instead, residents are having their memories erased by the computer. Some people, like Myrnin, are affected immediately—Myrnin still thinks he kills humans and other vampires. Claire and her roommates must break into Myrnin's lab to shut down the computer before the whole town suffers amnesia or, worse, death. The Founders are fighting over how to handle the humans, Claire's parents have to leave town, and Claire's boyfriend is told his father is a registered vampire. In the midst of all that drama, those with their memory must remind their unwitting friends of the truth. It can be heartbreaking, especially for those like Shane, who lost his sister in a fire, or Michael, who was turned into a vampire. But it can also make bonds stronger. The Morganville Vampires series is distinguished from other vampire novels by its steampunk feel. Caine mixes fantasy, science fiction, romance, and suspense—a combination that packs a punch. Enough background is given to understand the story without reading the other books in the series, although teens might be motivated to start at the beginning. Reviewer: Lori Guenthner

My thoughts: This series always has me either: laughing, on the verge of tears, or at the edge of my seat......
If you've never read any of the books in this series..I suggest you go rent on from the library or something.
This business of Claire having to fix the town's machine that secures the borders is ridiculous...Really, just because her and Shane went to rescue Eve and her friends, from a party gone wrong. And come across a bad vampire and Claire ends up killing her, to protect herself from the EVIL COW...doesn't mean she should have to give up her live and work on the machine 24/7.
The once the machine is fixed everyone in town starts losing 3 years of there lives and can't remember how they've ended up where they are and then some of them are killing each other......can you say CRAZY!!!!!
Oliver takes over the town...oh no! Although only for a little while because Amelie loses her memories and attacks Oliver and gets her power back. Only to in the end split the responsibilities with Oliver.
Claire and the gang, with the help of Frank Collins and his posse, stop the crazy Myrnin and save the town. In the process though Frank gets killed and ends up having his brain in the machine to help with the borders...yay! The town is safe and peace is in the air in Morganville once again...Or at least until the next book. LOL!!!!

Change in plans

Awakened by: P.C. Cast

Publication Date: January 2011

From the Publisher

“My love, speak to me.  Tell me everything.”  Neferet went to Kalona, kneeling before him, stroking the soft, dark wings that unfurled loosely around the immortal.
“What would you have me say?”  He didn’t meet her eyes.
“Zoey lives.” Neferet’s voice was flat, cold, lifeless.
“She does.”
“Then you owe me the subservience of your immortal soul.”  She started to walk away from him.
“Where are you going?  What will happen next?”
“It is quite simple.  I will ensure Zoey is drawn back to Oklahoma.  There, on my own terms, I will complete the task you failed.”
Exonerated by the Vampyre High Council and returned to her position of High Priestess at Tulsa’s House of Night, Neferet has sworn vengeance on Zoey.  Dominion over Kalona is only one of the weapons she plans to use against Z.  But Zoey has found sanctuary on the Isle of Skye and is being groomed by Queen Sgiach to take over for her there.  Being Queen would be cool, wouldn’t it?  Why should she return to Tulsa? After losing her human consort, Heath, she will never be the same – and her relationship with her super-hot-warrior, Stark, may never be the same either…
And what about Stevie Rae and Rephaim?  The Raven Mocker refuses to be used against Stevie Rae, but what choice does he have when no one in the entire world, including Zoey, would be okay with their relationship?  Does he betray his father or his heart?
In the pulse-pounding 8th book in the bestselling House of Night series, how far will the bonds of friendship stretch and how strong are the ties that bind one girl’s heart?

My thoughts: This book took me a while to get into...actually 10 days to read and that's a long time. And I'm still not sure why. I love Zoey and the gang, and am always waiting impatiently to see what is to happen next.
Losing Jack in this book was hard. And i can't imagine having been in their world to witness Damien's grief. I probably would have behaved badly..LOL.
I'm glad that Zoey and Stark made it back where they belong, even though they now have to live in the tunnels.
Rephaim made a wonderful choice and now he gets to be with Stevie Rae...yeah. PLus I'm sure he's one hot dude now that Nyx gave him a real human body.
I'm sorry that Linda, Zoey's mom, had to die. I'm sure Nyx has a plan....Like Heath. Which let me say I hope Heath can accomplish what he has set out to do.
I hoping soon enough Neferet will be destroyed....Even if I have to find my way into the book and do it myself...ROTFL!!!!!
WEll that's it until Destined

Firelight by: Sophie Jordan

Publication Date: September 2010

Synopsis

A hidden truth.
Mortal enemies.
Doomed love.
Marked as special at an early age, Jacinda knows her every move is watched. But she longs for freedom to make her own choices. When she breaks the most sacred tenet among her kind, she nearly pays with her life. Until a beautiful stranger saves her. A stranger who was sent to hunt those like her. For Jacinda is a draki—a descendant of dragons whose greatest defense is her secret ability to shift into human form.
Forced to flee into the mortal world with her family, Jacinda struggles to adapt to her new surroundings. The only bright light is Will. Gorgeous, elusive Will who stirs her inner draki to life. Although she is irresistibly drawn to him, Jacinda knows Will's dark secret: He and his family are hunters. She should avoid him at all costs. But her inner draki is slowly slipping away—if it dies she will be left as a human forever. She'll do anything to prevent that. Even if it means getting closer to her most dangerous enemy.
Mythical powers and breathtaking romance ignite in this story of a girl who defies all expectations and whose love crosses an ancient divide.

My Thoughts: Dragons or Draki....who would of thought. I honestly expected this book to be about fearies.
Jacinda is a special chick, not only is she Draki but she breathes fire. There hasn't been a fire breather in years...or actually generations.
She is suppose to mate with Cassian to create more fire breathers only her mother doesn't want that....And let's face it what mother would want her 16 year old daughter mating and having babies...My mother would have killed me.
Anyway, her mother decides to save her and move them away from the pack with her twin sister, who is not a Draki. Tamra and Jace start school for the first time.
They make friends and enemies and Jace falls in love with a Draki hunter. The very one who once saved her life....only he doesn't know who or what she is.
Turns out that Will was once dying from cancer and his family gave him Draki blood and it cured him, only he now has it inside of him. Do you think he will hunt her?
Will accidently see Jace manifesting after she is jumped at school. Instead of loving her less he loves her more.
Cassian catches them making out at a outdoor party and tries to kill Will. In order to save Will Jace manifests in front of all the hunters. She saved him!
But what will become of their relationship?
Will Jacinda's mom and sister be safe as well?
Question's I'm left with as the book leaves me hanging! Waiting impatiently for more!!!!!

Daughters of Darkness by: V.C. Andrews

Publication Date: October 2010

Synopsis: When I was a little girl, Daddy told me never to fear the dark. “We exist because of the darkness,” he told me. “All of you are daughters of darkness.”Beloved bestselling author V.C. Andrews’s passion for vampires comes to spellbinding life in a long-awaited novel of dark desires as all-consuming—and forbidden—as inFlowers in the Attic. One night, with the sound of a young man’s scream, high school senior Lorelei discovers that her stern but loving father, who adopted Lorelei and her sisters as infants, is no ordinary man. He has raised his beautiful girls for one purpose: to lure young men into their world of shadows. Like her sisters, Lorelei has been trained in the art of seduction and warned never to fall in love. But when she meets a handsome and charming classmate, she boldly defies her family and follows her heart—even if love is a poison

My thoughts: CAn you say, eewwwww! Rally incest...ugh!
When I started this book, I thought these vampires are really unusual and different from most.
The daughters go out and make the boys hot for them then bring them home to DAddy. Who then drains them of there blood and that blood sustains him for one month. That's all good and fine.
The older girls train the younger girls on how to lure men into there trap...so to speak. Sounds like prostitution.
Lorelei, the middle daughter falls for Buddy the boy she is suppose to lure home. In order to save him they runaway to find her birth mom , whom she was told was dead, but believes she alive.
She finds her mom and realizes her mom and the other girls mom's use to be her dad's daughters as well.
He raises them to lure the men then when the next daughter is ready he knocks them up and they produce another daughter for him to teach.
Seriously, twisted!!!!!!

Blood Memories by: Barb Hendee

Publication Date: October 2009

Synopsis: Eleisha, a vampire, is far older than she looks-and makes men yearn to care for her. Then she usually kills them, since self-preservation comes first. So when an old vampire friend kills himself, Eleisha is shocked. And what she finds in his home shows how world-weary he had become- hoarding corpses and keeping records of vampires' actual names and addresses. Now the police know who Eleisha is, and more alarmingly, what she is. But she soon realizes that being known may have its uses-even if it puts her and her kind at risk...

My thoughts: This book is very different from the rest of the vampire books you've read...I'm sure of it.
These vampires all work hard to acquire strong abilities they are mad with them.
Eleisha was made by Julian at 17 She left to care for Julian's fatherWilliam who is also a vampire, but suffers from a mental illness, one that they thought changing him into a vamp would solve.
When Eleisha's friend, Edward kills himself in front of 2 cops, she flees the area with William and runs to her friend Maggie
Maggie ends up getting killed by Dominick, one of the cops. Then Dom kills William, as well.
So Eleisha runs away with the good cop Wade until Philip another of her friends shows up to find out what's going on. in order to save Wade she runs with Philip and they kill Dom....YAY!!!
Julian the head vampire comes to kill Wade and punish them. Only Eleisha shows him she has power to control him. So Julian leaves them alive and tells them there are more vampire out in the world....when they thought there were none.
